Richard Morgan and Xandra Sherman will be manning the FIBIS table, but it would be very helpful if we could have a couple of other volunteers to help out on the day, so we are looking for FIBIS members who live in the RG Postcode area who would like to help. Please contact Elaine MacGregor at sales@fibis.org ASAP if you feel you could spare an hour or two to support the FIBIS team in selling books, handing out leaflets etc.

If you have ancestors that were Covenanted or Uncovenanted Civil Servants in India then the L/F/10 records index recently added to fibiwiki could be of interest to you and hopefully help you with your research. Lawrie Butler has done a very thorough job of going through these records and compiling a detailed index that is an excellent and valuable addition to fibiwiki.
The L/F/10 records are records of service, 1702-1928, and contain:
- lists of civil and uncovenanted servants
- statements of civil establishment for the Government of India and the provincial governments
- lists of employees of
- the India Forest
- Public Works
- Post Office department
- Burma Railway Company
See the L/F/10 category in fibiwiki for more details.
John Gannon and his team of Volunteer Transcribers have now completed the transcription of announcements of Births, Marriages and Deaths in “Allen’s Indian Mail” from 1843 to 1847. These cover several thousand names which are all loaded into the FIBIS Free On-line Database.
Work will continue on later editions in the New Year and our gratitude is recorded to the team for all the hard work that is involved in producing these highly valuable data for British India Family Historians.
