Volunteers needed

We are still looking for volunteers for our locations project. No experience in adding information to a wiki is necessary. Volunteers are needed to help gather information needed to create a page on a location in fibiwiki. To see a developed location page, visit Cannanore. If you are interested in volunteering or would like to find out more about this, or any other project, contact the FIBIS Webmaster.

He was repatriated back to England. He met Harriet Lake who was a nurse with the First Aid Nursing Yeomanry (FANYS) and in 1919 they were married. The Regiment was then stationed at Gosport in Hampshire. The regiment then sailed for Constantinople on 30th March 1920, then moved on in 1921 to Cyprus and in 1922 to Egypt.

There are many ways that FIBIS posts news and information to its members and to the general public. Although the most popular method is currently the emailed FIBIS newsfeed, not all news is posted via this method. FIBIS posts news on a daily basis, but as not everyone wants email from FIBIS appearing in their inbox everyday, we use other methods of social media to broadcast news and only post the more important news via the blog/email newsfeed. To help you choose the best method for you to keepup-to-date with FIBIS news here is a summary of the methods we use to broadcast our news and the sort of news we post via these social media methods.

    • FIBIS also syndicates it’s blog via Networked Blogs http://www.networkedblogs.com/blog/fibis . NetworkedBlogs is a community of bloggers and blog followers where users can add their blog, and connect with others.
    • If you use a feed reader you might also like to subscribe to the FIBIS Product RSS Feed. This lists any new products added to the FIBIS store.

If you have ancestors that were Covenanted or Uncovenanted Civil Servants in India then the L/F/10 records index recently added to fibiwiki could be of interest to you and hopefully help you with your research. Lawrie Butler has done a very thorough job of going through these records and compiling a detailed index that is an excellent and valuable addition to fibiwiki.

The L/F/10 records are records of service, 1702-1928, and contain:

  • lists of civil and uncovenanted servants
  • statements of civil establishment for the Government of India and the provincial governments
  • lists of employees of
  • the India Forest
  • Public Works
  • Post Office department
  • Burma Railway Company

See the L/F/10 category in fibiwiki for more details.
